Commercial Property Legal Assistant

Our client, a well-established law firm in the Top Legal 500 based in Colchester, is recruiting for an organised and detail–focused Commercial Property Legal Assistant .
This is an excellent opportunity to join a well-respected and supportive team, where you’ll play a key role in delivering exceptional legal support to the Commercial Property Team.

The Role

• Providing support to the team with a strong emphasis on document production, including formatting, proofreading
• Preparing and amending contracts, agreements, leases and correspondence with accuracy and professionalism
• Applying for Land Searches
• Track changes
• Opening new client files, conducting ID and AML checks, preparing initial documents, and closing files in line with the firm’s procedures and compliance standards
• Maintaining well–organised case files using client management software and ensuring all documents are handled and stored in accordance with compliance and regulatory standards
• Supporting Solicitors with general administrative tasks including filing, scanning, and billing
• Managing diaries, arranging meetings, and coordinating travel plans for multiple solicitors
• Communicate with clients, colleagues, and external parties, maintaining confidentiality at all times
• Regular telephone contact with clients and professional contacts
• Assist fee earners in the maintenance of time recording
• File and case management, bill preparation

Experience required:
• This role would suit an experienced Commercial Property Legal Secretary or Legal Assistant or Paralegal candidates with Residential Property experience will also be considered
• Experience with Microsoft Office, especially Word, and quick to learn new systems and legal software
• Strong communication skills, both written and verbal
• Strong document production and formatting Skills, with a high standard of spelling, grammar, and presentation
• Excellent organisational and time management skills, exceptional attention to detail
