Private Client Legal Assistant

JS Legal Recruitment are working with a prestigious Legal 500 Law Firm with multiple offices in Essex. Employing over 100 staff due to continued growth, my client is recruiting for an experienced Private Client Legal Assistant to join their busy Private Client Team.

As a Private Client Legal Assistant you will provide administrative support to one or more lawyers. Assisting with Wills, Probate and administration of Estates, Powers of Attorney, trusts, estate planning and the court of protection.

The Role

• Providing typing and administration support to one or more lawyers
• Working under your own initiative having day to day conduct and administration of Wills and Probate cases
• Liasing with clients, beneficiaries, professional organisations and government agencies
• Preparing attendance notes and letters with the supervision of the fee earning staff
• Drafting legal documents, including Wills and probate applications , Estate Accounts
• Managing your own caseload
• Opening and closing files
• Diary management
• Carry out money laundering and ID checks
• Witnessing wills
• Attend client meetings
• Assist with preparation of invoices

The Candidate

• The position would suit a Private Client Legal Secretary, Legal Assistant or Paralegal who wants more autonomy
• You will be fully conversant with all Microsoft Office products including Outlook, Word, Excel
• Experience with Leap case management system would be an advantage but not essential
• The ability to work to tight deadlines
• Attention to detail
• Ability to stay calm under pressure, self-motivated and reliable
• Strong organisational skills
• Excellent communications skills and a team player
